Anthropic names Irina Ghose to lead India operations ahead of Bengaluru office launch

Anthropic said today that Irina Ghose will join as Managing Director of India as the company prepares to open its first office in the country. The role comes as Anthropic highlights India as the second-largest market for Claude.ai.

Anthropic said today it has appointed Irina Ghose as Managing Director of India as it prepares to open its first India office in Bengaluru.

Ghose brings more than three decades of experience in scaling technology businesses and most recently served as Managing Director of Microsoft India, where she focused on enterprise AI adoption across banking and financial services, healthcare, manufacturing, and government.

Anthropic dated the announcement Jan 16, 2026, and said Ghose will help grow teams and deepen engagement across India’s public and private sectors.

Chris Ciauri, Anthropic’s Managing Director of International, was named in the announcement as the executive responsible for the company’s international expansion.

Anthropic said its India team will work with policymakers and academic institutions, expand developer engagement, and build partnerships with enterprises and organizations applying AI to local challenges.

The company also said India is the second-largest market globally for Claude.ai, and its fourth Economic Index reported that nearly half of Claude.ai usage by Indian users is concentrated in computer and mathematical tasks.
