Shopify POS adds native transfer fulfillment and receiving

Shopify POS expands in-store inventory tooling with an on-device workflow for sending and receiving inventory transfers between locations. The update keeps transfer status, verification, and staff access controls inside Shopify’s inventory system.

Shopify POS 10.20 introduces an end-to-end workflow for inventory transfers directly on the POS device.

  • Retail staff can process outgoing transfers from POS, including picking, packing, and sending shipments once a transfer is created and assigned in Shopify Admin.
  • Incoming transfers can be verified and received in POS with item scanning to confirm what actually arrived before inventory is adjusted.
  • Transfer actions are split by intent in the POS interface: outgoing under the Orders area and incoming under the Products area.
  • Transfer status remains tracked in Shopify for operational visibility, reporting, and audit trails across locations.
  • Access can be limited with staff permissions, so only designated roles can manage transfers.
